Children’s Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Depending on how familiar your child is with the dentist’s office, we’ll give them a fun tour of the treatment room before we sit them down to examine their mouth. We strive to provide a positive, educational, and fun experience for all of our younger patients to help build a strong and healthy relationship with their oral health. We’ll also conduct a thorough cleaning to prevent the formation of cavities or other common oral health problems that occur among children.

Dental Sealants

Cavities are one of the most common oral issues that children develop due to the fact that they’re still learning how to properly take care of their smile. If your little one is susceptible to experiencing decay, we may recommend dental sealants to make sure that their baby teeth remain healthy so their adult ones can grow in properly. During this treatment, we’ll paint small protective shields over their molars to prevent food and plaque buildup in the grooves.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that’s vital to the formation of tooth enamel, which is the protective outermost layer of your child’s teeth. When this isn’t properly formed, it can make them more vulnerable to the harmful effects of oral bacteria, such as cavity development. If we believe your child isn’t receiving enough fluoride, we may recommend putting a topical gel containing this mineral on their teeth to help strengthen and protect them.

Athletic Mouthguards

If your child is an athlete, one of the most important pieces of protective gear you can get them is a sportsguard. Dr. Whitmore offers custom-crafted, durable mouthguards to cushion and shield your child’s teeth, jaw, and facial muscles from impact, preventing a trip to the emergency dentist, or worse, the ER. We craft these from high-quality materials to comfortably fit your child’s mouth, making it easier for them to breathe while they’re out on the field.
